Dec 16, 2008 - Yes, this is much better.Super work. I have 7 of Mr Bo's ink stones, two large ornately carved in Green and Red & Cream. Wonderful.I love the sets.Could you state then, how much a fair beginners set costs. Enough for them to start out and get fair results. I know what you say about the ink stone but a beginner would not lose enthusiasm over this, it would still amke ink.Though I have just bought two adorable 5 inch round bowl stones from Mr Bo and they work a treat and cost about 12 dollars.

Dec 17, 2008 - Another lady customer of Robert, Xiaobai, bought more than two of us. I will persuade her to share her collections later... I have been lucky to meet Robert "in my neighberhood 5 minutes away"... I bought my first brush hanger 28 years after I started practicing calligraphy... A fair beginner's set, IMHO, should be around $30 (I have a video for this combination) according to Robert's price index.

Dec 17, 2008 - ALso, another thought, it would be great if we could see you use a simple cheap brush and a rather more suitable brush. For me, most of my brushes cost only a dollar each. I have two that cost 40 dollars. in my hands..... as a raw beginner, probably just as a cheaper brush. Could you do some examples???? That would be very beneficial. TO see the way it works/bends and the final quality. You mention ink also.I used some very poor ink but it was grainy but the effect was pleasing! :)

Dec 17, 2008 - You may look it up from his e-Bay store and send inquiry to Robert's email address (He has no time for YouTube.) So both of you can save charges.

Dec 17, 2008 - When my high school teacher threw away a bad brush to me, it was my best one! I started with average quality tools... Sometimes if I practice absent-mindedly with high quality tools, the result is less satisfied with average tools but with mind focus. I am still preparing a series of vids for Forbidden City brush sets I got over the last 3 years with writing samples. Thx.
